In myth, she was not given a gentle initiation. She was broken open, betrayed by the very structures she had trusted, and forced into the depths. And it was there, in the cold and the dark and the complete dissolution of the life she had known, that she became something extraordinary - the keeper of the deep, the one who tends what lives beneath the surface. 

Sedna has always been here, moving slowly and patiently, holding her place in the deep. It is not that she is newly awakened, it is that we are.
